Thank you for visiting the Web Site of National Capital Area Council Boy Scout Troop 61, Washington, D.C.
Troop 61 has a long heritage of providing the finest program for boys in the nation's capital. Troop 61 strives to capitalize on the wealth of opportunities available in the Nation's Capital and incorporates international themes throughout its program. The Troop is comprised of boys from middle schools and high schools (private, parochial and public) throughout Northwest Washington, D.C. as well as boys who live in Northwest Washington, D.C. and attend schools in the metro area.
You may recognize some of the boys from various community events (volunteering at the Capitol, leading the 4th of July Parade, assisting with community cultural events). You will certainly be able to identify the boys as a group that is constantly having fun, playing games, camping, hiking, and maturing together as young men.
The Troop meets
every Thursday Night at 7:00 p.m. during the school year and every month it enjoys a weekend overnight camping trip. The Troop also visits local landmarks and organizations as well as participating in community service events around the Washington, D.C. area. The Troop is non-denominational. Through the generosity of a neighborhood community church, the Troop has been the beneficiary of a dedicated Scout Room and meeting space for nearly 70 years at the Palisades Community Church,
5200 Cathedral Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C.
